Chief Engineer – Data Center Facility The role summary: The Chief Engineer in the Data Center is responsible for leading and managing all engineering and maintenance operations to ensure the reliability, availability, and safety of critical facility infrastructure, including the performance of electrical systems, HVAC, generators, UPS, fire protection systems, and other mission-critical equipment. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all engineering and maintenance activities within the data center facility. Ensure the reliability, availability, and optimum performance of critical infrastructure systems, including electrical, HVAC, UPS, generator, and fire protection systems. Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs. Manage and supervise engineering teams, technicians, and service vendors. Conduct regular inspections and assessments of facility systems and equipment. Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and operational procedures. Respond to and manage technical incidents, equipment failures, and emergencies. Monitor facility performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Prepare maintenance reports, operational records, and performance documentation. Coordinate with clients, vendors, and Data Center Operations teams to support facility requirements and operational objectives. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering or building management, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role. Experience managing critical facilities such as data centers, commercial buildings, hospitals, manufacturing plants, or other mission-critical environments. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, HVAC, UPS, generators, fire protection systems, and Building Management Systems (BMS). Proven leadership, problem-solving, and team management skills. Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) certification is highly preferred and will be considered a strong advantage. Good understanding of safety regulations, maintenance best practices, and facility operations. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Willingness to support emergency response and after-hours operational requirements when necessary.
