Technical Lead- Coal Fired Power Plants / Investment Manager A pioneering investment manager focused on commercially viable decarbonisation of coal-fired power plants through active ownership and strategic investment across emerging markets is seeking a Technical Lead. Role responsibilities include technical assessments, acquisition support, transition planning, and value creation for thermal power assets, while supporting energy transition initiatives including repurposing, retirement, renewable integration, and energy storage. This role can be either part-time or full time, and will be remote. With preference to those in South East Asia due to alignment of time zones. Brief role Overview Pre-Investment Assessment and Transaction Support Conduct technical due diligence, evaluate plant performance and risks, manage technical advisors, and provide technical input to support investment decisions and transactions. Asset Transition Oversight and Value Assurance Monitor asset performance, identify operational improvements and value enhancement opportunities, and collaborate with management, operators, and technical specialists to deliver transition objectives. Technical Administration and Reporting Track industry developments, benchmark asset performance, evaluate emerging technologies, and support technical studies to inform portfolio strategy and investment decisions. Business Case and Performance Monitoring Support the development of investment business cases and monitor post-acquisition performance against financial, operational, and strategic targets. Team Supervision and Collaboration Provide technical leadership, supervise team activities, and work closely with investment and leadership teams to support informed decision-making and a collaborative culture. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering with at least eight years' experience in thermal power generation, preferably coal-fired assets, with knowledge of energy transition initiatives and stakeholder collaboration across asset acquisition and operations.
