Job Summary As a Traffic Operator, you’ll be responsible for overseeing and managing the physical movement of commodities across the supply chain. You will ensure timely and cost-effective execution of contracts, manage documentation coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, and resolve logistical and operational challenges. This role requires deep experience in commodity logistics, strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Main Responsibilities Manage end-to-end execution of commodity contracts (e.g. EXW, FCA, FOB, CIF, CIP, DAP, DDP) for sea, land, and/or rail shipments. Coordinate with suppliers, customers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, inspection companies, and insurance providers. Monitor shipment schedules, freight bookings, and delivery timelines to ensure compliance with contractual terms. Issue, review, and process, in a timely manner, shipping documents such as; Bill of Lading, Invoices, Certificates of Origin, Certificates of Insurance, Packing List, Quality Certificates, and others required as per local regulations for smooth clearance of cargo, in both Origin and Destination. Ensure correct handling and tracking of physical stocks in storage locations, warehouses, and transit, in alignment with inventory systems. Ensure proper pricing and hedge of positions, in alignment with contractual terms, incoterms, and market exposure. Ensure accurate and timely documentation for bank presentations (e.g. HC’s and Releases, under Borrowing Base, under LC or CAD/Prepay Terms) according to contract and financing terms. Resolve claims, demurrages, delays, and operational disputes in coordination with legal and commercial teams. Maintain close communication with traders, finance, and risk departments to ensure smooth execution of deals and prompt escalation in case of any type of exposure (e.g. commercial, operational, etc.). Report timely any changes due to operational execution in order to keep an accurate profit & loss (PnL) capture. Monitor costs, freight rates, and optimize logistics to maximize profitability. Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, sanctions, and customs requirements. Train and support junior traffic operators and contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes. Education, Skills and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, International Trade, Business, or related field. Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in a traffic, logistics or similar role within the metals or commodities industry. Strong understanding of INCOTERMS, trade finance instruments (LC’s, SBLC’s, Borrowing Base) and international shipping practices. Proven ability to manage stock positions, coordinate with storage facilities, and ensure stock accuracy across multiple geographies. Solid grasp of hedging principles and pricing mechanics as related to physical contract execution. Familiarity with trade documentation and regulatory compliance in multiple jurisdictions. Excellent organizational and negotiation skills. Fluency in English and Indonesian required; other languages (eg. French, Spanish, Mandarin) are an asset. Proficiency ERP systems and MS Office (especially Excel); experience with trading platforms (eg. CTRM) is a plus. Ability to be flexible and work under pressure to meet deadlines Travel may be required if business dictates Independent thinking and creative problem-solving skills are expected. Self-Motivated, with an acute Decision Making and Accountability sense.
